Subsequently, the Board was recognised as a Statutory Body vide West Bengal Act XIV of 2014 and was authorised for conducting the Joint Entrance Examination in respect to admission to various institutions in West Bengal imparting education in Medical, Engineering and Technological courses. The Board has been empowered to conduct Common Entrance Examinations for admission to Undergraduate and Postgraduate Professional and Vocational Courses both in the Undergraduate and Post graduate level. Paper-II - Physics & Chemistry (combined) Candidates appearing in both Paper-I and Paper-II and who are awarded ranks will be eligible for admission in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy Courses in all institutes. Candidates appearing in Paper-II only and who are awarded ranks will be eligible for admission only in Pharmacy Courses (except in Jadavpur University) Eligibility criteria for candidates appearing in WBJEE-2023: I. The lower age limit is 17 (seventeen) years as on 31.12.2023. A candidate should have been born on or before 31.12.2006. There is no upper age limit in appearing in the examination. II. However, for admission to the degree level Marine Engineering Course the upper age limit is 25 Years as on 31.12.2023. WBJEE Questions are to be answered on specially designed optical machine-readable response (OMR) sheet, which will be evaluated by Optical Mark Recognition method. Thus, it is very important to follow the correct method of marking.
